Attendance
Good attendance and punctuality underpin good education: if children are not at school or miss parts of lessons they cannot successfully access the curriculum offered.
Establishing good time-keeping habits early in life is also good preparation for secondary school and for adult life when individuals are increasingly responsible for their own timekeeping. School procedures will support the borough’s policy on attendance and we will work closely with families and the Education Welfare Service to promote good attendance and punctuality.
School starts at 8.40am every day. School gates close at 8.50am. Total hours provided 32.5.
Infant children must be collected from the playground by the responsible person parents/carers have selected at 3.15pm.
.
Junior children (years 3-6) they will be brought to the junior playground at 3.15pm and lined up. The teacher will walk along the line and shake each child’s hand, dismiss them and wait until the whole class left. Your child should be met in the junior playground at 3.15pm and no later.
Any child not collected by 3.25pm will be taken to the office.
High levels of unauthorised absences or poor punctuality can result in a referral to the Educational Welfare Service or other agencies which have a duty to investigate further and could result in legal action being taken against you.
We understand that there may be rare occasions when you are unavoidably late due to unforeseen circumstances. On these occasions please make sure that you contact the school office to inform us when you will arrive.
